Franklin Hotel 1888 Dinner & Ballroom Dance
Enjoy a four course sit-down dinner at your choice of 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m., or
7:00 p.m. with entrees taken from an authentic menu from the Blake House in
Strawberry Point, now the Franklin Hotel, listed on the National Register of
Historic Places. During the meal and in the afternoon until evening, listen to
live piano music and strings with old time music in the hotel lobby and enjoy
more beautiful music during the ballroom dance. Dress in costume from that era,
if possible, but not required.
From 1:00-6:30 p.m. take tours of the Franklin Hotel, some of the
turn-of-the-century houses in town and the Wilder Museum. Travel by horse-drawn
carriage to and from the Franklin Hotel. From 9:00-11:00 p.m. a Ballroom Dance
will be held with live music from a well-known stringed musical group playing
authentic music from the era. All done in the Christmas Spirit this first
weekend of the Holiday Season.
