Things are in the preliminary stages.  About 40 citizens attended the May 12 Community Input meeting with DOT at the Civic Center.  The meeting started with about a half hour presentation and was followed by questions.  As this meeting was for input, no decisions were made by DOT.  The very preliminary estimates for the total project, the state road work and the city infrastructure work, is $1.7 million.  Both the state and the city have decisions to make in refining the construction plans.  This will be done over the next year.  The estimated construction time is four months.  Any detour will probably not run through Arlington, as a bridge reconstruction project will be underway on Hwy 187.

The next public meeting about the construction of Elkader Street in 2012 will be held on May 3 at the Civic Center.  The time is from 5:00 to 7:00.  More details as we get them.
