Mayor:

Dale Fox thinks the people and the quality of life make Strawberry Point a great place.  Dale has been the mayor of Strawberry Point since January of 2008.  He is a retired teacher and now operates Strawberry Computing.  Growing up a Fairbank, Iowa, farm boy, he graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and has a Masters degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.  For a break, Dale enjoys family & friends, photography and exploring technology.

Council Person/Mayor Pro-Tem:

Jan Parkin believes in promoting Strawberry Point as a great place to live, work, and raise a family.  Jan is in his first term as a council member.  He earns his living as an industrial maintenance electrician.  Jan believes in the people of Strawberry Point.  In his after-work time, Jan volunteers as a little league, softball, and flag football coach.

Council Person:

Jackie Opperman looks forward to making Strawberry Point the best it can be and wants to be part of the decision making process.  She has an associate degree in accounting and computer programming.  Jackie owns Quality Accounting and Tax Services.  She is an IRS enrolled agent.  Jackie enjoys being a volunteer at Emanuel Lutheran Church and various community organizations.  "Strawberry Point can 'thrive' and not just survive." is the saying that guides her in her work in our city. 

Council Person:

Troy Stover has a BA in Business Administration and works as an industrial engineer.  He sees many talents and resources in the Strawberry Point community.  Troy thinks the dynamics of being at the intersection of two major highways surrounded by beautiful scenery, along with our citizens, are the strengths of Strawberry Point.  He volunteers as a little league and a flag football coach, as well as serving on the Emanuel Lutheran Church council.



Council Person:

Jacci Meyers has a BA in Leisure Youth & Human Services with an emphasis area in Nonprofit Management from the University of Northern Iowa.  She enjoys raising her family in the small town environment.  Strawberry Point is not only a town of enormous character and hospitality, it also is a town of great possibilities.  She is excited to be a part of making Strawberry Point more appealing to young families and continue to make Strawberry Point a perfect place to work and live.



Councilperson:

Rich Newman - Moved to Strawberry Point from Colorado Springs where I worked for the city of Colorado Spring utilities for 15 years before medical retiring. I believe that we the council can make Strawberry Point a better place to raise a family. I'm involved in coaching little league baseball. I'm on the ambulance service as an EMT.


City Clerk/Administrator (563-933-4482)

Deanna Dement has been employed by the City of Strawberry Point since September 2006 and has been City Clerk/Administrator since November 2006. Deanna received her B.S. in Business, M.B.A. and M.P.A. from Upper Iowa University. She was the recipient of the 2007 City Clerk of the Year Award by Iowa Rural Water Association. Deanna enjoys living, working and raising her family in small town Iowa and looks forward to being involved in making Strawberry Point a “Great Place to Live”.

Deputy City Clerk:

Liz has worked as the Deputy City Clerk since January 2007. She has an Associate's Degree in Accounting from NICC, a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Capella University and is currently working toward her Master's Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Health and Human Services from Upper Iowa University.



Economic Development & Tourism (563-933-4417)

Amanda Whittle become our new director on July 26, 2010.  Amanda recently graduated from Central College in Pella, Iowa, with an Interdisciplinary major in Business Management and Communication Studies, along with minors in Writing and Not-for-Profit Management. She grew up on a small dairy farm South of Elkader and still loves to help out when she can.  In her spare time, Amanda enjoys reading, hiking, spending time with friends and family and being outdoors. She looks forward to visiting and working with the community in order to make Strawberry Point a great place to live, work and grow.
